The American television station Starz pushes into the German market and launches its own streaming service on Amazon’s Prime Video Channels. In the future, the original series will be available there parallel to the US broadcast.

With series such as “Outlander” or “American Gods”, the US station Starz has made a name for itself in recent years. Now, for the first time, series of the station operated by Lionsgate will be available bundled via one access. This is made possible by the launch of the Starzplay channel, which can now be subscribed to Prime Video Channels. Besides Germany, Starzplay will also be launched in Austria and Great Britain, as Amazon confirmed to the media magazine DWDL.de.

Those who want to see the productions can now book Starzplay at a price of 4.99 euros. Prime members can also test the offer with a 14-day trial subscription. It is planned to offer the coming original series of Starz at the same time to the US premiere over Starzplay. Also included are the current productions “Vida” and “Sweetbitter”, as well as “Black Sails” “Powee”, “The White Princess”, “The White Queen”, “Swedish Dicks”, “Casual” and “Howards End”. Also a film library with productions like “American Psycho” and “Dune – The Desert Planet” is part of the offer.

“The launch of Starzplay on Prime Video Channels in Germany, Austria and the UK marks an important milestone in our drive to bring the Starz platform to the global market,” said Chris Albrecht, Starz President and CEO. “These new streaming channels will enable us to reach a new, even larger audience with our stories and give them access to our growing range of Starz Original series as well as our extensive library of successful TV series and films”.

Alex Green, European MD of Channels and Sport at Prime Video: “It is fantastic that we can now offer Prime members in Germany, Austria and the UK even more choice and quality with the extensive range of Starz Original series and other TV series and films exclusively available at Starzplay.
